Expanding Our Reach
Boda Girls is growing. We are partnering with rural hospitals across Western Kenya—specifically in counties with some of the highest maternal and cervical cancer mortality rates in the country.
By embedding our model into trusted health institutions, we’re creating a ripple effect of access, safety, and empowerment for women across the region.
Two studies informed our scaling strategy- the Harvard Business School Community Partners and WRPartners. They recommended that Matibabu serve as a Center of Excellence in Siaya, and that Tiba Foundation expand the program to other counties by licensing the Boda Girls brand, model, and training, and by providing matching grants to partner hospitals. We have now expanded from Siaya to the two counties of Homa Bay and Kisumu, with 60+ individual Boda Girls.
Boda Girls has a team of six remarkable Kenyan women who are experts in scaling women’s health and businesses. They are leading the scaling of Boda Girls across Kenya.
Matibabu Hospital is recognized as the Boda Girls Center of Excellence — the hub where new Boda Girls programs from across Kenya can come to learn, train, and exchange best practices. Matibabu is a place where new ideas are tested to deepen impact and sustainability. One such initiative is a pilot program launching in 2025 that introduces electric motorcycles to reduce emissions, lower operating costs, and support a greener future for both riders and their communities.
Matibabu Hospital: Boda Girls Center of Excellence
Boda Girls' next stage of expansion is focused on the 14 counties of the Lake Region where we plan to engage 40 hospital partnerships, train 800 Boda Girls, and provide 1 million services to rural women.
